There was a time I wasn’t.

A time when I didn’t think I was worth much. A very confident and happy child turned into a rebellious, angry teenager who couldn’t see how amazing and wonderful she was and would never have believed it even if you told her.

Sad.

It took years of being a grown up to get that confidence and self worth back but there are still days that I get caught up in challenging situations and forget.

So I decided to create a reminder for myself and all women, bringing together quotes that inspire, empower and remind us of how powerful we really are.

Mere quotes won’t change your life, but they can change your perspective and your day.

ANYTHING is possible thereon.

Because even though we have bad days, it’s not a bad life at all.

ps: A smile is still the sexiest curve on your body. Ever.
pps: If you know a special woman, let her know how phenomenal she is.

Call her, email her, hug her, do the chores, cook her dinner, make love to her, send her this post.

Whatever you do, just do it & make her day.

TODAY.

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us, it is in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

Ah, Tia, this just made my day. Here’s a quote I found in a pile of really old journal entries a few days ago…
“It’s not because I’m fearless that I will brave scary things. Love can give even the likes of me the heart of a lion.” -Carrie Newcomer

So many of these resonated with me, but the very last one, the Marianne Williamson poem, was a major catalyst in helping me find a place to START my journey of self-awareness and self-love last year. Lach sent it to me, and I kept a copy posted on the bulletin board where I used to work, to help me hang on to my courage. Thanks so much for posting it here, it was a beautiful reminder of how much better I feel now. :)

I’m also really appreciating your weekly emails, always something to smile at in those. No one’s ever called me “Sparklepants” before! Light and blessings to you…

So there was this discussion today about whether to use hey {first name} in emails or not. And I decided I wanted to do what I do best – make up words! What better way to know exactly who my right people are than call them sparklepants and see who stays and who goes :) ? YOU, are my right people girlfriend, and I am yours. You have no idea how much that feedback about the weekly emails means to me. Thank.you.so.much. #Nuffsaid.

ps: Excellent quote, thanks for sharing!

  13. I’m no woman but I love the Anon quote, “If you don’t like being a doormat then get off the floor.” I think your message of self-reliance and self-confidence is important. You have an entire list of quotes under the (paraphrased) heading “sass”. How do you think a woman should be sassy?

I opened a non-profit organization to help women get out of abusive relationships. I was inspired because it has happened to me as well. At the time it was going on, I was lost, confused and scared. If it was not for my GREAT friends and family I would probably be dead. I am here now, looking at your site for inspirational quotes to help other women get courage to get out and join me in the “survivor” circle. I am glad that I can actually find a site where I can use the resources to help them just by inspiration. My organization is still work in progress but with work and determination, I will have all the possible resources to help women GET OUT. I guess I just wanted to say thank you for being here and inspiring me and all other women in the world be better, and the best we can be.

P.S. If you are interested in joining please follow me on facebook (www.facebook.com/Lastbruise or twitter @LastBruise)

Great quotes, was looking for inspiration on the internet, needed something to remind me that Im better than anyone realises and men who cant see it, lie cheat etc, well there is there downfall reality is, they are probably scared by the fact I dont need them and Im nice, – the poem is amazing but apt for me right now is ‘ the truth will set you free but first it will piss you off’. Watch out 2012, this time I mean business :)

Hey Isaiah! Apologies for the late response :) I reckon sass is all about attitude, confidence and being spunky! Those quotes are very devil may care, in your face, cheeky and straight up. Hi Vicky! Humbled and honoured to be of inspiration to you and this cause. May I just add – I know that surviving is the 1st step (I volunteered with victim abuse organisations) and yet, there’s something about moving past that into a more empowered version of self and THRIVING that serves a stronger purpose.

When I see “last bruise”, it makes me think of pain. That can be a motivator, yes, and to help your work spread even further and give strength where needed, what do you think of using words that speak to where women want to go vs where they have been?

I believe our words have great power and instead of reminders of the past, we need visions of the future. Exactly what you talked about in your comment – courage, inspiration, being the best we can be, loving ourselves! Would love to hear what you think of this.

Huge kudos and admiration for the mission you’ve dedicated yourself to – you ROCK!! Thank you for surviving and thriving <3

A famous musician once stated that, “In complete darkness we are all the same. It is only our knowledge and wisdom that separates us.” Is a lack of information something that makes you powerless? Can what you do not know really hurt you? Indeed it can, and yes the opposite is also true. Worse off acting on bad information is very similar to acting on no information. For this reason it makes sense to never stop learning, to learn something everyday and to make knowledge a priority in your life.

    Tia,
My dear friend’s daughter will be celebrating her Quinceanera soon. I wanted to give a gift with some meaning for this transition from child to woman celebration. I decided to create a book that could be passed around the day of her celebration and have the women in her life enter their own words of “wisdom”. I planned to have inspiration quotes throughout to prompt ideas and thoughts. Thank you for your beautiful compilation of fabulous options for my use. And thank you for being out there for the women in this world who need to hear how wonderful they truly are…every day.

Tia! Just what I needed. I have been through a gut wrenching divorce after my husband woke up one day and decided to leave. My daughter and I wound up living in a homeless shelter. I never felt more alone in my life. But realizing that no one was goo g to save me forced me to become my own night in shining armor. I struggle everyday with feeling not enough and dealing with the hurt. I was raised to be pleasant and not ruffle feathers. Being assertive and strong is a foreign thing to me. I am learning every day how to sparkle and shine. I want so badly to teach my little girl to be a kick ass chick that doesn’t take crap off anyone. Thank you for the great reminders that there isnt anyone that can stop me but me. My husband and his hurtful words and acts do nothing but make me stronger and make me sparkle brighter! My baby and I now have own home and I am running my own business helping other woman to feel beautiful and strong. I am so excited to start receiving your weekly emails and get pumped up!
