Celebrating Your Sacred Yes

If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, will answer you: I am here to live out loud. – Emile Zola.

(This is a post by Otiti of Radiant Soul Space)

You crave a kick-ass life.

You want to dance through each day in a way that fills your soul and limbers up your synapses. You’re dedicated to creating a radical lifestyle that frees you to live and love and work with your whole heart.

Congratulations! You’ve decided to celebrate your sacred yes.

The first time I sat down to write this post, I called it “What is Your Sacred Yes?” and went on to write a yawnfest about the importance of knowing what you want and why you want it, giving yourself the freedom to want what others might call outrageous and audacious.

I stopped after a while because the words became too painful to read and I just knew that draft would never see the light of day.

So now, as I start afresh and approach the sacred yes from a different angle, I feel the urge to say this and make sure it sticks:

Own it. Immerse yourself in it.

Why? Because it’s the sweet spot that lets you fashion your life after your dream. It’s the portal for your best ideas and luminous visions, the fountain of your soul juice and enthusiasm for the world.

Your sacred yes is your response to your calling, your rasion d’etre, the skip in your step and twinkle in your eye. It’s what you answer to the deepest desires of your heart and the longings of your soul.

So let’s take a closer look at it, shall we?

Dreams are audacious. Sometimes we gasp as the things we dare to crave and ask ourselves who we are to desire them.

How dare you want to buy that house, drive that car, earn that much, or love so openly?

How dare you want to open your own spa, run an award-winning blog, and travel the world while you’re at it? How dare you? The nerve of it all!

Psst: you dare because that’s your sacred yes. It’s what your soul demands and what you need. Sing it with me, people:

“I dare because that’s my sacred yes.”

If you’re drawn to something, thinking about it over and over again, sighing to yourself, “I’d love to do this/go there/start that project—non-profit—business if only . . .”, guess what?

That’s what you’re here to do. Period.

It’s a funny thing about life: we often turn to others for directions on what to do, where to go, and who to be. It’s like we don’t trust ourselves to know what we want or what’s best for us, so we take the edicts of our families/partners/peers and make them our own.

Here’s the rub: no one else feels the fire burning in your heart, so how can they possibly know what’s best for you?

Short answer: They can’t.

Long answer: You have to figure it out.

Even longer answer: You already know deep down inside but are afraid to acknowledge + trust it.

This is the first step to building your fabulous life.

What brightens your spirit? What fills you? What sparks your soul fire and makes you feel you can do anything, anything at all? What lets you be the hottest possible version of yourself?

THAT is your sacred yes, your hotline to greatness, your personal brand of magic.

Why wouldn’t you want to trust such a beautiful thing?

Knowing exactly what sparks your soul fire is the key to pouring every last drop of your energy and passion into each project you take on, each product you create. It’s the source of hot genius and the firebed of your creativity + inspiration.

In other words, it’s really f*cking important.

It takes a lot of courage to show up as your fullest self and bring all of you to the table. Nothing held back, nothing silenced or dimmed . . . just you unleashing the kaleidoscopic glory of your hot, passionate, creative, brilliant, juicy core.

What pretty words, right?

And they don’t even begin to cover all the nuances of your spirit. They barely scratch the surface of the inner treasure at your disposal.

Living your sacred yes is claiming your true identity as a bright, beautiful star. It’s stepping into your power and chasing your dreams because you believe you can pull it off. It’s unfurling into your magnificence as you give your all to milking the goodness in each moment and showcasing your talent with each project.

Living your sacred yes is maximising your potential and squeezing the JUICE out of your creativity. It’s being able to light up the stratosphere with all the energy and zing you’ve got.

Allow me illustrate.

I feel most alive when I inspire others to speak their truth and live their dreams, when I light the fire under their ass that makes them jump up to say and be and do all the things they’ve been longing to say, be, and do.

So when I show up on my blog and urge my community to be radiant souls, when I write from the heart and express myself with no holds barred, I push them to go for it.

It’s subtly echoing the inner voice daring them to break free of barren ground and dance in the green lushness juusst outside their comfort zone. It’s urging them to live their sacred yes.

I write about energy and fire, passion and power and brilliance, because they are the things that drive us to speak.

They’re the qualities of bold self-expression that connect us to our tribe, that allow us touch hearts and minds, that make us who we are.

Living your sacred yes is your ticket to the awesome life you know you can live, the one brimming with bliss and fulfilment and soul-deep pleasure. It’s boldly acting on your desires even when external factors try to thwart you and relentlessly pursuing your goals even when your inner critic screams “You’re gonna fail!” and tries to scare you off.

Wanna live your sacred yes?

Then don’t give a rat’s ass what negativity throws your way or what people whisper about your vision. It’s YOUR life to live, not theirs. Own that fact and let your soul fire burn, baby, burn.

So tell me: what’s your sacred yes, and how will you honour it? Let’s talk about it in the comments below.

    YES!!!! YES!!!!
It’s SO good to be on fire – and, contrary to what people believe, fire begets fire (not burn-out!)

    Thank you

    Otiti I’m feeling it!

I like how you phrase it: “The Sacred ‘yes'” .

It’s a great way to phrase it because it honors how powerful this ‘yes’ truly is. At the same time it also honors how personal it is for each of us.

In addition to everything you say I would also throw out that our sacred yes is a constant evolution. As we move forward with our passion and dreams we become more knowledgeable, wiser, and more able to to give to the world.

I think this is part of the danger for many people. They are expecting that there “sacred yes” will turn them into a superstar overnight. Then when it doesn’t happen they assume they haven’t found it yet. Like everything great, it requires hard work.

Keep on bringing the fire Otiti :).

Izzy!! Thanks, ma man, I’m so glad you dig it! 😀

Absolutely, our purpose evolves as we ourselves evolve and experience more of the world. I think the overnight superstar trap stems from the belief that having the raw material for greatness is enough and everyone will now beat a path to their door. The truth is we have to convert our raw resources into finished products/offerings that touch the souls of other people and draw them to us as opposed to pulling them kicking and screaming into our orbit, LOL.

Like you said, the sacred yes incredibly personal for each of us and a truly powerful agent of change if we set it free to bless us as it’s intended to. The key, however, is embracing AND working with it so we can become amazingly radiant, and remain on fire for what we do + why we do it.

Thanks again for adding to the conversation, Izzy! 😉
